Innovitech welcomes two new partners

Early 2012, Camille Gagnon is proud to announce the arrival of two new associates at Innovitech: Clément Fortin, President and CEO of the Consortium for Research and Innovation in Aerospace in Québec (CRIAQ) and Sylvain Cofsky, Executive Director of Green Aviation Research & Development Network (GARDN).Innovitech insures the administrative portage of CRIAQ since 2003 and is also linked to GARDN through a CRIAQ-GARDN agreement. The already existing partnership between the three organizations finds itself even more strengthen, pushing Innovitech towards a strategic renewal and a steady growth.

Dr. Fortin combines a vast and remarkable career in the aerospace sector. First of all, as a pilot in the Canadian Forces where he accumulated more than 1600 flight hours on training reaction and fighter planes. Then, as the Head of Mechanical Engineering Department at École Polytechnique de Montréal, he contributed to create the first aerospace engineering bachelor’s degree in Québec. More so, in 1980, Clément Fortin founded Polyplan Technologies Inc., a spin-off of Polyvalor and a leader in Manufacturing Process Management (MPM). “In the same breath as Roland Doré and André Bazergui, Clément Fortin brings a vast university experience as well as a fine appreciation of innovation challenges. Additionally, a previous F-15 pilot, he is passionate about aerospace and as founder of Polyplan, he brings an amazing entrepreneurship experience” says Camille Gagnon on the nomination of Mr. Fortin.

In August 2009, Sylvain Cofsky integrated Innovitech’s team and assumed the general manager role for GARDN. Previously, Mr. Cofsky was, for five years, a key actor at NanoQuébec, organization financed by the Quebec and Canadian governments in order to structure the development of nanotechnologies in Quebec. Today, he considers his nomination as an opportunity to have greater connexions to projects as well as complementary networks. At Innovitech, the project that stands-out to Mr. Cofsky is the Quartier de l’innovation project in collaboration with ÉTS. “Create a house for innovation in Montreal, a coffee machine where all the innovation organizations can gather, corresponds to an extraordinary challenge” mentions Sylvain Cofsky with enthusiasm.

The Innovitech team is thrilled to welcome them and wishes both of them great success in their future realizations.
